Don’t miss it. ?
Very nicely designed museum. Worth seeing when reopened, albeit a little crowded. Be prepared for many steps, but nice ambience. Interesting exhibits and vivid models of the city and the gate.
A wonderful place with many beautiful buildings?
The monumental gate bears witness to the power, importance and wealth of the old Hanseatic city of Lübeck, which led the Hanseatic League. Interesting and worth seeing like the entire old town of Lübeck.
Standing in front of these towers make you feel a part of Disney fairytale. It is not a castle, but looks like one. It is the gate at the beginning of the tourist aria of Lübeck, which has lots of nice pubs and stores, and many other historical places.
It was very nice at night, just fantastic
LÜBECK simply wonderful
The Lübeck landmark is freely accessible and a great photo opportunity. There is a compliment gate in the Advent season. It's really nice to go through there and hear something nice.
I'm really leaning. Here is the "Twin Lions" that was previously treated as a subject in the German language course on NHK Radio.
Holsten Gate in front of Lübeck's old town during Corona times, few people can be seen, otherwise there is a big crowd here!
The museum is - albeit simple - very beautiful and lovingly presented. The entrance fee is justified. It was just a shame that all interactive aspects such as drawers, folding panels, etc. were closed due to Corona. The biggest argument for this is the fact that you have the chance to get into this great building and see the inner workings. Highly recommended.
Beautiful place and interesting tour, there is no need to write more, definitely worth a visit.
A real sight! Good parking spaces 100 meters away, then the tourist information center right at the gate and from there start the tour of the old town. Lübeck is a great city!
Beautiful landmark at the entrance to the city
Gateway and symbol of Lubeck, the historic center of the Hanseatic League. Inside the door, consisting of two towers, there is a civic museum.
A nice and interesting museum, I myself was very surprised about the room layout inside. You can also celebrate (children's) birthdays there and visit a small museum shop. The museum is like a labyrinth: I promptly got lost ...
We recommend! An interesting journey back in time to the former Lübeck as a developing Hanseatic city. You don't just stand in front of display boards, especially the market activity at that time was supported by audio recordings. I felt transported back to that era. ?The staff, like everyone I met in Lübeck, were very friendly and courteous.
Many years ago I had it in my hand, this unique object. It was always valuable to me. I would have loved to have owned a few thousand of them. And suddenly this old 50 DM note is really and truly standing in front of me here in Lübeck. I feel filthy rich now.
I am honoured by visiting this place. That's what I like about Europe, trying to preserve history for the upcoming generations.
Nice place in the heart of the city. Enjoyed it.
Quite a unique gate. One of the best I've ever seen.
Full of History about the heart of Lübeck.
Suitable for photos! The park to linger for a little break with a picnic is also very nice. Very clean and well maintained.
Beautiful. Absolutely must see in Lubeck.
I didn't have a chance to go inside as the waiting line was a bit too long for my schedule, but if its anything like the outside then it sure is great. I'll definitely check it out next time!
So beautiful place in Lübeck the Holstentor. Very old structure. You will be amazed if you go there.
Fantastic ??
A must for every visitor to Lübeck. Here historical insights into the city life of Lübeck are shown in an entertaining way. The three-dimensional structure of the historic old town is particularly impressive
Top ?
Very nice
Nice museum, but more could be done for the younger guests. Children cannot see anything due to the height. A few more options that you could step up to would be awesome.
Nice place, a lot old, little new. There were few shops in the old town. Many churches, but were not inside. Many buildings looked a bit the same. The first two alleys were beautiful and small and extraordinary. But the other alleys also had something but were not so fairytale detention. The museum was good but not where you spend more than 10 minutes. Generally not a bad city but has its quirks.
Built in 1477, Holstentor was once the most important gate to the nordic ports. Since then it has been renovated a few times but has successfully maintained its charme! Holstentor is still considered the center of Lübeck. The museum inside the gate offers deep historical insights about the region. Definitely worth a visit!
Beautiful place
Very wonderful
The Holsten Gate ("Holstein Tor", later "Holstentor") is a city gate marking off the western boundary of the old center of the Hanseatic city of Lübeck. Built in 1464,the Brick Gothic construction is one of the relics of Lübeck's medieval city fortifications and one of two remaining city gates, the other being the Citadel Gate ("Burgtor"). Known for its two-round towers and arched entrance, it is regarded today as a symbol of the city. Together with the old city centre (Altstadt) of Lübeck it has been a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 1987.
Xxx
Very beautiful and cozy. Worth to see
Amazing
I like
goodly
It is free to walk around and take pictures of the gate. Museum charges a entry fee. I did not visit the museum. A great small park to spend some time and picture taking.
The man at the counter was really nice and friendly. He also speaks good English. The only funny thing was that he had difficulties with finding Colombia in the guests countries list.
The museum is very interactive since you have to sometimes move and touch certain things to learn about what you are seeing. You learn about the trade of the town and life style. Reception guy was very nice helping us in English and Spanish.
Landmark in lubeck.
A really impressive medival gate. A very characteristic place of Lubeck. It is worth to see and visit. Highly recommended!
Very Very nice
